track 14, Gimme an Amiga (1996-2012)

Avec ce nouveau morceau je me lançais dans un petit défis d’animation sous mon Scream Tracker III. Ce nouveau titre, orienté Trance reprend pas mal d’éléments que l’on retrouve dans les morceaux Trance – House qui marche de l’époque… un string hachés, des sons à la B.B.E., des variations de tempos… Le titre était très entrainant, et j’ai eu alors envie de transcender les petites animations que je réalisais parfois dans mon soft de création musicale… Jetter un oeil à la vidéo au niveau des 3 premières pistes… Creative Sound Studio apparait en animation “plop”, suivi d’un rideau de “String Tracking”… puis les lettres de by Cyborg Jeff qui tombe et file à droite sous un “fiooouw”… pour laisser place un scroll text “String Tracking”… une fameuse chipoterie hein !

Le morceau plaisait énormément à mon frangin Pype, c’est pourquoi j’ai un peu plus tard, réalisé une version 6 pistes adaptée à son player S3M codé en Assembleur.

Ces petites animations m’avaient pris un temps de fou… et pas de chance une mauvaise manipulation me fit appuyer sur la touche interdite ‘²’ qui fait planter Scream Tracker 🙁 … j’ai donc dû tout recommencer le lendemain…

With this new track, I launched me a challenge with a new animation in Scream Tracker III. This trance song was influenced by a lot of Trance-House hit with cutted string, B.B.E. inspiration and tempo variations. So i would like to create a powerfull text animation with my audio software. So have a look to the three first tracks… Creative Sound Studio appears with a “plop” animation, then a row of “String Tracking” and the letters of “by cyborgjeff” falling from the sky…

And you should know during i was working hard on that, i push the bad button “²” that make crashed Scream Tracker… So i should restarted it the next day…

This song also be rewrite in 6 tracks cause my bros Pype realy like it… So then could be compatible with the S3M player he coded in ASM.

Tiens, tiens, cela faisait longtemps que je n’avais plus composé de titre de ce genre… exit les titres Dance, Trance et Techno… Voici un morceau bien oldskool, voir chiptunes (72ko) qui aurait pu faire merveille comme bande son pour un shoot’m up sur Amiga 500.

Le genre de titre où je peux un peu me déchainer… je m’en souviens encore, preuve en est les petites animations “scream tracker III” qui font leur retour après quelques temps d’absence.

Ceci dit, resté longtemps dans l’ombre d’un projet de 2° album remix, le musicien français Xenon (Fabrice Tonnelier) avait réalisé en 2006 une version remix un peu rock rétro très sympathique que je vous invite à découvrir en exclusivité !

So, a long time i didn’t have write song like this… stop Dance and Trance music… i was back to the roots with an oldschool maybe chiptunes track that could be great as sound track for an amiga shoot’m up…

Such kind of song that i’m happy to have written…

So long time lost in a never released project here is a rock remix version realised by the french musician Xenon (Fabrice Tonnelier)

Et “encore” un morceau de Trance musique avec piano et tutti quanti… j’aurais presque pu faire un double album hein ! … Ce dernier, malgré un début de mélodie intéressante me donnait l’impression d’un petit quelques choses qui coince… comme s’il manquait quelques choses…

On peu y retrouver quelques inspiration d’un titre de Ice Mc.

Salut à Pierrick Hansen, JedD (Jean-Denis Magis), Pierre Versali, V-Drums (Vivien Vanoirbeek), Pascal Deiting, Pype,Tbob (Valentin Boigelot), Puce (Simon Boigelot) et tous les autres.

Once again a new trance music with piano and tutti quanti… I have enough songs to create a double album isn’t it ? Well this one, with an intersting piano melody have something wrong.. at that moment, i didn’t know what…

You could recognize some inspiration from Ice Mc.

Spector... revu plus tard par PypeNon, je ne vennais pas de gagner le pactol… juste un peu de narcissisme autour de la première lettre mon prénom… Un nouveau morceau de Trance avec une jolie mélodie au piano… Assez réussi d’ailleurs comparativement à l’arrangement globale du titre, qui d’ailleurs ne sonne pas tout à fait juste sous Modplug/Xmplay.

Durant cette fin de vacances, je m’étais lancé dans pas mal d’activité diverses, en plus des mes compositions au format Tracker, avec mon ami V-Drums (Vivien Vanoirbeek), nous continuions à réaliser des morceaux au format MIDI grâce à son séquenceur… Culture Beat – Mr Vain, John Lennon – Imagine, The Beatles – Let it be…

PPP Team Software n’était pas en reste ! Pype et moi continuions à faire avancer le 3° épisodes de Badman 3.. enfin surtout lui d’ailleurs, de mon coté je me lançais dans un pari fou d’imagine Wolfstein 3D en jeu de plate-forme 2D sous Game Maker toujours… Rebaptiser “Spector”, a la bouille de pixel proche de l’inspecteur gadget, Nono et Badman… il avait tout ce qu’il faut pour faire un bon héros… De mon coté, je prennais un malin plaisir à pixeliser les animations d’hémoglobine qui allait servir à faire mourir les soldats et autres gardiens de prison qui devait servir au premier niveau : l’évasion… J’avais clairement de quoi être fier… Ce début de projet était très très prometteur… Malheureusement, les données serons perdues lors d’un crash disque dur 1 an plus tard.

De leur coté Tentacle Bob (Valentin Boigelot) et son frère La Puce (Simon Boigelot) travaillait à plusieurs projets après quelques conseils de Pype … Un jeu mettant en scène Tentacle Bob lui même… Ratman qui sera d’ailleurs le premier boss de Badman 3 et un jeu “Bart” … probablement utilisant le personnage Bart Simpson.

Un dernier coucou à V-Drums, JedD (Jean-Denis Magis), Pierrick Hansen, La Puce, Tentacle Bob, MegG (Laurent Rosati) et DJ Dub (Christophe Deblire).

Nope, i was not won a lot of money… just a narcissic moment arount the first letter of my first name…. and a new trance song with interesting piano melody… better thant the global arrangement that not correctly sounds on Modplug/XMplay rendering.

During those holidays, i was working on differents stuffs. Keep tracking with Scream Tracker III but also writing MIDI songs with my friends Vivien and his sequencer : Culture Beat, John Lennon, The Beatles…

PPP Team Software also worked hard. Pype and I still working on the third episode of Badman and I especially working on a new project first starting from a 2D conversion of Wolfstein 3D world on Game Maker. Called Spector with a hero inspirated from Inspector Gadget, Nono and Badman… I took time to work on blood animation of my enemi death ! The first level was great ! But one year later we lost all data in a Hard Drive crash.

Tentacle Bob and his brother La Puce also working now with Game Maker…. Valentin working on a game called Tentacle Bob and also Ratman… who also appears as the first boss of Badman 3.

Ce jour là, avec mon ami V-Drums (Vivien Vanoirbeek) qui avait depuis peu un magnifique piano éléctronique droit Roland avec séquenceur 16 pistes incorporés, nous nous étions mis à la tâche de tester la bête et enregistrer la musique de notre ami, guitariste et également soundtracker Laurent Mazzapicchi dit Parmesan. Nous avions donc retravaillé son “Outer Space” en lui donnant un petit goût de Dance MIDI, ajoutant du saxophone et quelques petites séquences de piano à la Robert Miles… Pour du MIDI, le résultat était plutôt sympa… Malheureusement, je n’ai pas l’impression d’avoir garder le fichier, peut intéresser à l’époque par ce format qui s’il sonnait bien sur ce gros piano éléctronique, avait peu d’intéret sur le Windows 3.11 de mon 80386 DX 40…. D’ailleurs, j’attendais sous peu l’arrivée de mon tout nouvel ordinateur… Un Pentium 120.

Bref, une fois de retour, et toujours tout notre travail en tête, je m’étais mis à refaire le travail sur mon Scream Tracker III, en y ajoutant histoire de plaire encore plus à Parmy, quelques sons de guitare. Histoire d’accorder tous les sons dont j’allais avoir besoin, j’avais trouvé une petite astuce. J’utilisais un son type Adlib qui me servait de note de référence.

Voilà encore une production qui pourrait se distinguer dans le magasine PC FUN ? …. et un petit coucou à mon ami Tentacle Bob (Valentin Boigelot)

That day, with my friend V-Drums who have just receive a very big electronical Roland’s piano with a 16 tracks onboard sequencer, we’ve planned to test it and recording a song from our friend, guitarist and soundtracker Parmesan. We worked on Outer Space adding it a Dance MIDI mood with saxophone parts and also Trancy Robert Mile’s like piano… For a MIDI creation, that sounded great. Unfortunatly i probably will not keep the MIDI file as at that time, that was not intersting on my Windows 3.11 running on my 80386 DX 40… I was hardly waiting my brand new computer, a Pentium 120 !

So well, back at home and still the song in mind, i re-tracked it on Scream Tracker III adding some guitar parts to be sure Parmy like it ! To help according all the samples i was using a ADLIB reference instrument 😉

Well a new production that may be added on PC Fun ?? and a hello to my friend Tentacle Bob.

claude-francois-philipsDurant les vacances notre groupe de musique Pop : Aliens from Seraing,  s’était un peu étoffé. Autour du noyau dur composé de mon frère Pype au chant et la guitare, Vivien à la batterie et moi-même au synthé, Laurent Mazzapicchi dit Parmy nous avait rejoint fin 95, d’abord en tant que second claviériste, puis comme guitariste lorsque Geoffrey Ducastel avait quitté le groupe… Un peu plus tard, début 96, Thierry Dubois, un autre camarade d’école était venu en tant que 3° guitariste… Le groupe manquait un peu d’homogénité… 3 guitaristes, c’était un peu compliqué… Ceci dit, fouillant les chansonniers, nous ajoutions de nouveaux morceaux à “Notre Farde”, et tout récemment, nous venions terminer de retrouver les accords de Comme D’habitude de Claude François… ce qui m’avait donné envie de temps une version “Dance Moderne”, Comme D’hab.

De retour du camps de la troupe de l’îlot, j’avais rencontré Perinne Lejeune qui m’avait assez bien impressionnée par sa voix… et celle-ci devait venir faire un essai chant dans le groupe… Je me souviens qu’il s’est d’ailleurs très bien passé… Mais elle n’a pas continué… Peut-être ses parents n’étaient-ils pas trop rassurée de la laissée avec une bande de garçon de deux ou trois ans plus agés… On avait pourtant répété avec le groupe le titre de KS’ Choice pour l’occasion.

Bref, j’avais là un tout nouveau morceau à faire écouter à Valentin qui devait venir chez moi ce jour là … Et un petit coucou à Vivien qui m’avait passé le single de Pin-occhio – Pinnochio Vaï dont j’avais tiré le sample de la mélodie “Dance”.

During summer holidays our Pop band : Aliens from Seraing have moved. Around the original team with Pype playing guitar and singing, Vivien at the drums and myself on the keyboards, arriving Parmesan in the end of 95, also playing first keyboard then, when Geoffrey Ducastle completly leave the band, Parmy switch to the second guitars. Later Thierry Dubois joined us on the 3rd guitar… But, yes 3 guitarist was not easy to managed… Well, we were searching new songs to add to our catalogue and then had just found the chord of “Comme d’habitude” from Claude François… That’s why i’ve thought to remix it in a modern dance version.

Back from La Troupe de l’îlot, I’ve met there Perinne Lejeune who impressed myself with his voicie… So we porosed her to have a test on the band… Great experience, anyway she will not continue with us… May be her parents was not so happy she played with older boys… Anyway we’ve work on the song from KS Choise for the occasion.

Well, i had there a new song to present to my friend Valentin who should come at home that day ! … And thanks to Vivien for the CD Single Pinnochio Vaï where i sampled the dance melody instrument.

236. 1000 nights and one ‘personnal club mix 3’

1000 nights and oneC’est assez marrant car ce petit remix d’un morceau Techno de la formation allemande East Beat Syndicate n’a rien de bien extraordinaire… Juste une tentative de faire une version module d’un des singles bons marchés achetés chez GB pendant les soldes… Le morceau original n’a d’ailleurs rien d’extraordinaire non plus… mais au vue du nom de fichiers 1001.S3M, ce module a souvent été téléchargé sur l’ancien site web, présentant les titres par ordre alphabétique.

Pour l’histoire, Damon Hill venait de remporter le GP d’Allemagne sur Williams Renault devant Jean Alesi et Jacques Villeneuve.

La troupe de l'îlotVoilà, voilà, ce sont les vacances et je m’aprette à partir en stage à la Troupe de l’îlot entre Grivegnée et Chaufontaine pour préparer le Camp Roulotte “Marionettes” qui se déroulera une fois de plus à Clermont sur Berwinne… Alors vite fait bien fait,.. un petit morceau de musique.

Depuis 1992 déjà je participe à ces camps roulottes mené par Stefan et ma cousine… Je suis là en tant qu’animateur pour les enfants et je m’occupe également du matériel sono… et souvent des remorques… Et puis il y a plein de gens que j’y ai rencontré parmi mes amis…. Wivine, Julie, Simon… et surtout Valentin que vous découvrirez bientot sous le nom de Tbob ! … Bon j’y en rencontré aussi pas mal de petites copines…

So well, well, we are on holiday and i’ll go on stage to the Troupe de l’îlot somewhere between Grivegnée and Chaufontaine to prepare our tip that will start that year in Clermont on Berwine… So a quick final track…

Since 1992, i went each year to that activities managed by Stefan and my cousin Laure. I was there animator for the children, preparing the sound material,… I met many friends as Wivine, Julie, Simon… and sure Valentin that you’ll discover soon under the name of Tbob…

Cyborg Jeff commence à s’imposer à Mc Piet dans la création des morceaux “techno”. Celui mélange partie agressive (destruction) avec des sons Rave oldchool et plus calme (paradise) avec strings et flute de pan.

La nuit des temps – Barjavel

A ce stade, cela n’est pas encore délibéré, mais je suis entrain de lire La Nuit des Temps de Barjavelle… et cela m’a clairement orienté dans le concept de ce morceau.

Je prenais ce jour là l’occasion de remercier pleins de gens… Les Alien Boys (mon groupe de musique) : V-Drums, Pype, Parmy, Thierry. Ceux qui m’avait permis de pouvoir faire de la musique sur Sound Tracker : Romuald ‘Valyum’ Dispa, Xavier ‘Xalope’ Vanhoorick, Eric Vaneuyzen, Dimitri ‘DJ Dim’ Laermans…. Et tout ceux qui écoute ma musique : Laurent Rosati, Xavier Strivay, Pascal Deiting, Salvator Canicatti, Sébastien Valenti, Johan Besançon, François Barré, Valentin et Simon Boigelot, Jean-Denis Magis, Caroline Lepaily, Tchet, Gregory & Geoffrey Dierckx, Pierrick Hansen… et enfin un ptit coucou à Aurore et Angélique Carpenne.

Cyborg Jeff began to be dediated to techno track. This one mixing agressive part (destruction) with oldschool rave sounds and peacefull part (paradise) with strings and pan flute.

I didn’t have reported that during i wrote this song, but i was reading La Nuit des Temps from Barjavelle… and that should oriented my works.

Et donc… du coup, à petit morceau, beaucoup de morceaux, je pouvais donc faire 2 voir 3 modules sur la journée, entre quelques heures d’études des cours de Flamand… pardon de Néérlandais. Ici, j’avais créer un morceau techno autour du son principale de morceau de Mo-Do – Eins Twei, Polizei.

Tiens d’ailleurs je me suis toujours demandé si le nom de ce groupe Mo-Do pouvait être lié au Modules ou au format MOD… partons en quête…

And then, small tracks, but many tracks, i often had time to write two or three new modules, as here between few hours of learning dutch. I had written a techno track around the principal instrument of the Mo-Do – Eins Twei Polizei. So i’m just wondering if the name Mo-Do have a link to the MOD format ??

Wikipedia said : The name Mo-Do is claimed to originate from the two first letters of Frittelli’s birth-town (Monfalcone, Italy) and the day of his birth (Domenica, i.e. Sunday in Italian).[1]
