Improbable mélange entre de la Trance/Rave et le morceau que mon frère est alors entrain d’apprendre à la guitare classique. La première version ne m’aillant qu’à moitié convaincu, j’avais alors entrepris d’en faire un arrangement à la “Robert Miles” avec des sons tirès de morceau Rave du début des années 90… et le Hocus Pocus du morceau du même nom de mon Turn up the Bass.
Unimaginable mix of a Trance/Rave track and the song my brother Pype learning with his classical guitar. The first version was not enough intersting, so i’ve mixed it in a Robert Miles style with Rave samples from the start of the nineties.

Voici donc le Digital Mix 4… ne cherchez pas les autres, enfait je m’étais un peu meler pinceaux entre le Digital Mix 1 réalisé courant mai, et les Dance Mix 1,2,3 réalisé fin 95… Ce titre aurait dû être le Dance Mix 4… mais voilà, bref je me lançais là dans l’idée de faire un nouveau megamix, qui tournera plutôt court. En effet on y retrouve tout d’abord Technotronic – Pump up the Jam (), dont Pierre Versali m’avait trouvé une série de sample, puis ensuite Black Box – Ride on time (), dont j’avais réalisé les samples hors de mon CD The Ultimate House…. à cela s’enchaineront 2 très rapides compositions personnelles : Piano Maestro et Sugar Girl.
Le tout avec un petit Joyeux Anniversaire à mon paternel.
Here come the Digital Mix 4. Don’t search after older one, i have made a mistake… confusing Digital Mix 1 and Dance Mix 1,2,3… That should be the Dance Mix 4. Well i hade a new idea for a megamix… a small megamix using first Technotronic – Pump up the jam, that my friend Pierre Versali found me in soundtracker format, then Black Box – Ride on time that i’ve sample some instrument from the CD Compilation The Ultimate House… then I added to personnal compositions in that mood calling : Piano Maestro and Sugar Girl.

Durant les vacances notre groupe de musique Pop : Aliens from Seraing, s’était un peu étoffé. Autour du noyau dur composé de mon frère Pype au chant et la guitare, Vivien à la batterie et moi-même au synthé, Laurent Mazzapicchi dit Parmy nous avait rejoint fin 95, d’abord en tant que second claviériste, puis comme guitariste lorsque Geoffrey Ducastel avait quitté le groupe… Un peu plus tard, début 96, Thierry Dubois, un autre camarade d’école était venu en tant que 3° guitariste… Le groupe manquait un peu d’homogénité… 3 guitaristes, c’était un peu compliqué… Ceci dit, fouillant les chansonniers, nous ajoutions de nouveaux morceaux à “Notre Farde”, et tout récemment, nous venions terminer de retrouver les accords de Comme D’habitude de Claude François… ce qui m’avait donné envie de temps une version “Dance Moderne”, Comme D’hab.
De retour du camps de la troupe de l’îlot, j’avais rencontré Perinne Lejeune qui m’avait assez bien impressionnée par sa voix… et celle-ci devait venir faire un essai chant dans le groupe… Je me souviens qu’il s’est d’ailleurs très bien passé… Mais elle n’a pas continué… Peut-être ses parents n’étaient-ils pas trop rassurée de la laissée avec une bande de garçon de deux ou trois ans plus agés… On avait pourtant répété avec le groupe le titre de KS’ Choice pour l’occasion.
Bref, j’avais là un tout nouveau morceau à faire écouter à Valentin qui devait venir chez moi ce jour là … Et un petit coucou à Vivien qui m’avait passé le single de Pin-occhio – Pinnochio Vaï dont j’avais tiré le sample de la mélodie “Dance”.
During summer holidays our Pop band : Aliens from Seraing have moved. Around the original team with Pype playing guitar and singing, Vivien at the drums and myself on the keyboards, arriving Parmesan in the end of 95, also playing first keyboard then, when Geoffrey Ducastle completly leave the band, Parmy switch to the second guitars. Later Thierry Dubois joined us on the 3rd guitar… But, yes 3 guitarist was not easy to managed… Well, we were searching new songs to add to our catalogue and then had just found the chord of “Comme d’habitude” from Claude François… That’s why i’ve thought to remix it in a modern dance version.
Back from La Troupe de l’îlot, I’ve met there Perinne Lejeune who impressed myself with his voicie… So we porosed her to have a test on the band… Great experience, anyway she will not continue with us… May be her parents was not so happy she played with older boys… Anyway we’ve work on the song from KS Choise for the occasion.
Well, i had there a new song to present to my friend Valentin who should come at home that day ! … And thanks to Vivien for the CD Single Pinnochio Vaï where i sampled the dance melody instrument.

C’est assez marrant car ce petit remix d’un morceau Techno de la formation allemande East Beat Syndicate n’a rien de bien extraordinaire… Juste une tentative de faire une version module d’un des singles bons marchés achetés chez GB pendant les soldes… Le morceau original n’a d’ailleurs rien d’extraordinaire non plus… mais au vue du nom de fichiers 1001.S3M, ce module a souvent été téléchargé sur l’ancien site web, présentant les titres par ordre alphabétique.
Pour l’histoire, Damon Hill venait de remporter le GP d’Allemagne sur Williams Renault devant Jean Alesi et Jacques Villeneuve.

That’s fun, cause this little remix of the techno track’s of the german formation East Beat Syndicate is just an average work. Just trying to rewrite in soundtracker format that CD singles cheaply bought in GB. But the songfile named 1001.S3M was first presented in the download section of my older website…

2 Unlimited – Get Ready !
Rappelez vous, il y a quelques mois je remerciais mon ami Sébastien Valenti pour m’avoir offert pour mon anniversaire l’album “Best of” de 2 Unlimited, groupe culte du début de la Dance music des années 90… Grand fan, j’avais eu envie d’en faire un genre de mégamix au format Tracker… mais c’est également l’occasion pour moi de vous parler de ce groupe !
C’est donc en 1991 que je découvre le premier titre Get Ready For this ! Je tombe dingue du son et de la mélodie qui se démarque clairement de ce que j’ai déjà pu entendre coté Techno-Rave… Lors de la soirée d’anniversaire de Laurence Thurion, je repère la compil Turn Up the Bass où je pourrais trouver le morceau… mais déjà 2 Unlimited enchaine les hits avec Twilight Zone et Workaholic… Twilight Zone, d’ailleurs, sera la musique du générique d’une émission de Sam Touzami présentant les derniers jeux vidéos sur RTBF : Luna Park !
Bref, à l’origine 2 Unlimited vient de l’association de deux auteur producteurs belges Jean Paul Decoster et Phil Wilde qui sorte un premier titre sous le nom de Bizz Nizz. en 1991, il rencontre Ray Slijngaard, alors un ami du rappeur du groupe Quadrophonia. Ray participera donc au nouveau single de Bizz Nizz. Egalement repérée par Marvin de Quadrophonia, Anita qui travaille sur le même lieu de travail que Ray, chante elle dans un groupe de Rap, Trouble Sister, après son boulot… De coster et Wilde viennent de terminer le nouveau titre Get Ready for this, mais trouve qu’une partie vocale serait intéressante et propose à Ray et Anita de participer au projet… 2 Unlimited voit le jour ! n°1 en angleterre, 4° en Belgique, 2° en Australie… et l’hymne national de la NBA !
Bizarrement, loin d’être mon morceau préféré à l’époque, c’est Tribal Dance qui reste maintenant pour moi le morceau le plus intéressant parmi leur nombreux hits !

In 1991 i discovered the hit Get ready for this. I was crazy about that synthe sound and the melody was so different than the other Techno Rave track from that period… During the birthday of Laurence Thurion, i find it on the CD Compiltation Turn up the Bass… But at that moment, they have new hits : Twilight Zone and Workaholic. Twilight Zone was also the generic music from an RTBF broadcast, presented by Sam Touzami, speaking about new video games…
In 1990 the two belgian producer and compositors Jean Paul Decoster and Phil Wilde launch their first production under the name “Bizz Nizz”. In 91, they met Ray Slijngaard (the rapper), introduced by their common friend Marvin D from the formation Quadrophonia. Ray work in the same place than Anita who also sing after his work in a female rap formation : Trouble Sister. Ray first sing in the Bizz Nizz last single, but Phill and Jean-Paul have just finished a new song that could be more intersting with vocal parts.. They propose the project to Ray and Anita… 2 Unlimited was borned.. Get Ready for this will be 1st in UK, 4th in Belgium, and 2nd in Australia… and also NBA official sound track…

… Et l’après midi s’annonçait encore plus productive. Pierrick se lançait alors dans la composition d’un titre moins techno, mais mettant en avant de nouveau une mélodie Piano et un style dont il avait le secret… De mon coté je m’occupais de mettre tout cela en place pour faire un vrai morceau, avec des variation, un rythme intéressant un accompagnement, de la bass… Le travail fut assez long ! Car cette fois, impossible de travailler avec Fast Tracker II trop gourmand en mémoire, il me fallait donc coaché Pierrick pour écrire le titre sous Scream Tracker III… Au moment où j’allais m’attaquer à un petit solo de bas… Pouf, l’ordi bug et tout est perdu 🙁 … Heureusement Pierrick avait une sacré mémoire, ou déjà bien son idée en tête, et nous reprenons tout depuis le début avec quelques sauvegardes…. Débuté à midi, je terminerai seul le morceau vers 22h ! Probablement le premier si gros projets sur lequel j’ai travaillé…
Le lendemain, tellement motivé du résultat, je m’attaque à revoir le morceau pour qu’il tienne sur seulement 6 pistes, afin qu’il puisse être utilisé dans une production future de PPP Team utilisant le mini S3M player programmé en assembler pour mon frangin Pype… pour une zone Aquatique ou dans la neige ?
En 2000, pour l’album HTML Quest, je retravaillais le morceau dans un style plus “Chiptune”, pour la zone du Lagon de Bilou.
Enfin, je vous invite également à écouter 3 essai que Pierrick avait réalisé en juillet et aout, qui devait être bien inspiré de ce morceau… Le fichier S3M ne pouvant être relu sur son Fast Tracker, il est possible que Piek aie tenté de le reprogrammé sur son Fast Tracker… ou qu’il avait déjà quelques idées de base avant de venir, mais dont la date de fichier ai été modifiée par la suite… seul lui peut s’en souvenir 😉

Afternoon was still productive. Pierrick and I started on new song, not so techno but once again targeted on a excellent piano melody as he had the secret. I worked on re-arranged all his idea, adding variations, new arrangement, bass,… it was a long work. That time, Pierrick will not able to work with Fast Tracker, cause my tiny computer, a 80386 with only 1mo of memory will not able to add all the samples we need, so i should coach Pierrick to use Scream Tracker III. At the moment i will add some bass variation… Bardaf, the computer freeze and we lost all the work. Fortunatly, Pierrick have an excellent memory and then we start back all the work… Starting at 12am, i’ll finish it alone at 10pm… That was probably my first biggest musical project !
The next day, i was so excited by the song that i decided to rewrite it in a 6 channels format that could suite to the S3M player programmed by my bros Pype on Assembler… that could be used for an aquatic or artic level for Bilou or Badman…
In 2000, for my album HTML Quest, i’ll rework that song in a chiptune mood, especially for the Lagoon level from Bilou, that we imagine on Game Boy Advance.
Finally, i also invite you to listen to 3 essais from Pierrick realised in july and augustus from that year, there were inspirated or have inspirated that song. The final S3M file will not be able to be listenable by Pierrick computer, only using Fast Tracker, so he maybe have try to rewrite it on a XM format… Or maybe date will not be correct (cause file was modified) and he have allready write some musical basis before we started the project !

Les PPP Team Software… Piet, Pierrick, Pypein ! (1995)
Ce 11 juillet, Pierrick était venu nous rendre visite pour une longue journée productive, avec probablement quelques petites pauses pour faire avancer nos projets Bilou ou Badman… mais dès le matin, nous avions commencé à travailler ensemble sur ce morceau un peu “techno” sur Fast Tracker II qu’il maitrisait plus aisément que mon Scream Tracker. Pierrick aussi était dans un courant ou les mélodies piano avec beaucoup d’importance… Il laissait assez souvent son inspiration imaginer des trucs vraiment sympa… De mon coté j’avais ensuite retravaillé l’homogénité du morceau sous Scream Tracker…
Et pourquoi S.Y.S.O.P. … il s’agissait d’un métier qui tentait assez bien Pierrick à l’époque… à savoir gestionnaire de serveurs.
That day, Pierrick came at home for a productive day, with probably some gaming pause working on Bilou & Badman’s projects… So that morning, we began together on a techno song on Fast Tracker II cause he have more ability with this stuff thant on Scream Tracker. Pierrick also liked piano’s melody so he often imagine new one that realy rocks… After i’ll work later on the track homogenity as Pierrick often not finish his work.
Why S.Y.S.O.P… I’ve never heard before but it was a computer job that Pierrick like…

Si vous suivez un peu les histoires de ces derniers mois… Vous aurez compris que la transition de Mc Piet à Cyborg Jeff s’est essentiellement faites autour de style de musique, la Dream que j’appréciais énormément, et complètement lié à l’artiste Robert Miles, dont le morceau le plus connu était son premier titre, Children.
Après de nombreux titres inspirés de ce dernier, je me suis tenté à en faire une version soundtracker, et je me suis rendu compte que le titre n’était pas si facile à programmer, car bon nombre de note était en triolet, décalée… Le résultat est donc plutôt moyen, et très speed… J’en ferais d’ailleurs plus tard, en 1999, une version bien plus réussie.

Passé sous silence dans nos contrés, 3 autres albums sont sortis par la suite, le dernier Miles Guru en 2004.
If you remember my last month stories, You had understood that the transition from Mc Piet to Cyborg Jeff was linked to the Dream music, that i liked so much at that time, then linked to the musician Robert Miles and his song Children.
After many songs inspirated from Children, i had decided to try to rewrite it in a Sound Tracker format… and so i mentionned that it was not so easy to do. I’ll do it in a better version in 99.

Des titres peu connu, mais que j’ai pas mal écouté !!
Small dance song sounding like Culture Beat and Maxx realised with brand new samples i’ve made out of new CD i’ve bought. 26 new acid’s sounds out of The Free – Dance the night Away and vocal samples from Jam & Spoon – Follow me… Not well known songs but that i’ve often listen to.

Parmi les nombreux vieux modules que j’avais à l’époque découvert, se tenait clairement dans la liste des favoris cet excellent titre Dance programmé par Emax du groupe TRSI en 1993 pour la démoparty Spaceball ! Il faut bien admettre que la version .mod en seulement 4 pistes n’avait rien à envier à de nombreux titres dance de l’époque.
Ce jour là, j’ai eu donc envie de lui donner une petite touche personnelle avec une série de passage “piano” dedans pour en faire ma version “Air Play Remix”… bénéficiant des performances un peu plus poussée de mon Scream Tracker III Le titre avait également droit à quelques samples vocaux que j’avais personnellement enregistré…

Among the old soundtracker files i had at that time, there was in my top 10 this excellent song from Emax /TRSI written in 1993 for the Spaceball’93 demoparty. We should admit that this .mod song with onyl 4 channels was also good than many commercial Dance song from that moment.
That july day, i had decided to personnaly re-arranged the song with some piano personnal’s touch in a Air Play remix.. with more tracks that let my Scream Tracker use compare to the original Amiga song… and also some personnal vocal recording…
