L’origine même de ce titre Dr Feelgood est restée obscure bien longtemps parmi les projets musicaux de mon jeune apprenti Tbob, ceci-dit, le concept me plaisait assez bien, je m’étais alors lancé à donner un peu plus de style Market Dance Floor en retravaillant l’arrangement musicale et en ajoutant de nouveaux lyrics enregistré dans mon mini home studio. Il aura fallu attendre 20 ans pour que je découvre la version originale de 1994 du groupe Euro Dance Cool James & Black Teacher !

The original track Dr Feelgood are obscure, it was presented by my friend Tbob and I liked it, so rework the Dance arrangement on something more commercial then have added new vocals in my home studio… But i should wait 20 years to discover the original euro-dance song from Cool James & Black Teacher.

Avec un titre bien tarabiscotté : Cuisine-toi, toi même ! voici donc la 5° partie de mon concept Introduction of Dream, dont la conception fut ponctuée de nombreux problème de mémoire allouable pour tous les samples piochés par-ci par-là.
Parmi les différentes personnes que je voulais remerciées à l’époque : Tbob, Doudou, JedD, Pierrick, Pascal, V-Drums, Parmy, Valyum… s’ajoutait Hanson ! Je ne savais pas trop de qui il s’agissait, mais Valentin m’avait raconté qu’il s’agissait d’une personne qu’il connaissait et qu’il faisait lui aussi de la musique comme nous ! Il ne m’en avait pas vraiment dit plus au téléphone, il était juste tout excité ! Peut-être en saurais-je plus à l’anniversaire de Delphine ?
Au fait, notre groupe Virtual Music allait jouer un nouveau concert sur la place cathédral ce 21 juin 1997 pour les fêtes de la musique ! Beaucoup d’amis seront en Espagne pour le voyage rétho, Tbob en Italie,.. Mais Doudou devrait être là !
Pour ma part, je commencais à envisager mon avenir après l’Athénée. En principe dès la rentrée de Septembre j’allais tenter de rentré à l’IAD à Louvain La Neuve pour y suivre des études d’ingénieur du son… Mais il faudra pour cela réussir l’examen d’entrée !
Bien vous savez tout de moi hein ! Bon j’en retourne à l’écoute de l’excellent album du Docteur Gyneco, un peu chaud il faut bien l’admettre !
So here is the 5th parts of my project “Introduction of Dream” with a strange name. I had some problems to finish this new song caus of memory saturation on my Impulse Tracker as i import a lot of samples from other soundtracker modules…
Among the different people i spotted in this song as : Valentin Boigelot, Delphine Jacqmard, Jean-Denis Magis, Pierrick Hansen, Vivien Vanoirbeek, Laurent Mazzapicchi and Romuald Dispa, there was “Hanson”.. I don’t know who he is, someone my friend Valentin had just met and that seems to also make music as us… He didn’t tell me more by phone but he was realy enjoyed !
So well, our Popband Virtual Music would play the 21 june 1997 in Liège, a great news, but unfortunatly lot of our friends will be in Spain and Valentin in Italy !
So for next year, i’ve decided i’ll try to enter in the Institut des Arts de Diffusions (IAD) from Louvain-La-Neuve in the Sound Ingenier section !
Well, i leave you and i go back listening the hot new album of Docteur Gyneco !

En pleine folie Dance Music, je profitais donc de ce nouveau plaisir pour réaliser un nouveau titre. Coté texte, rien de bien extraordinaire, avec une pointe d’inspiration de Confetti’s – Pump it up. Musicalement, je me souviens avoir été inspiré de manière éloignée d’un module amiga peut-être bien au titre similaire….
Après quelques recherche, il s’agit plutot d’un titre Dance à la 2 Unlimited que je ne connaissais pas, mais dont j’avais un remix en module 😉

How it’s funny, in my crazy time of writing Dance Tracks, here is a new one inspirated from a good dance Module i had and also the last New Beat release of Confetti’s… But it seems my song Trust me are more than just inspirated from an “unknow” tracker… Those soundtrack .mod file was in fact a mix of a 2 Unlimited-like sweden band called Pandora.

Petit essai légèrement Trance / Dream dont la mélodie et les accords sont un peu trop complexe… le tout aurait été plus intéressant en tant que titre plus New Age à la Jean-Michel Jarre… mais bon voilà, je me suis profondément obstiné dans une mauvaise direction…

Trance / Dream track that have a too complexe melody and chords, so it would be more intersting to develop it in a New Age track as Jean-Michel Jarre does.

Bon, peut-être certains anciens se souviennent qu’à l’époque un groupe dance/trance du début de l’année 1997 avait un petit marché en boite… Ce groupe s’appelait H2SO4, une formule chimique ! Je n’aimais pas du tout la chimie, mais histoire de dire, j’avais donc tenté un morceau un peu hardocre appelé : HNO3 !
Well, maybe some of you remember the dance formation H2SO4 known with his 97 songs : Do it ? I realy don’t like chimie and that kind of formula, so i’ve wrote a hardcore essaie called : HNO3 !

Quelques fois l’inspiration n’est pas vraiment là… Je regroupais quelques samples à la base inspirants et je tentais quelque chose qui ne menait pas très loin… un coup de sauvegarde sur work.it, mais avec Impulse Tracker en QWERTY, me voilà avec un ZORK.IT
Sometimes inspiration don’t come… as if i’ve grouped some intersting samples, finally there were no need to continue… I just saved it to work.it, but forgot that i don’t have a QWERTY keyboard… so here is ZORK !

Ah ben ça ! Je découvre avec étonnement aujourd’hui que ce titre Dance pourtant réussi n’a jamais eu droit à une présence sur un de mes albums ! Si l’on pouvait retrouver la première version instrumentale, limitée à 6 pistes sur l’album Divagation, les versions chantées resteront oubliées sur mon disque dur… Pourtant musicalement Give me the night était vraiment réussi, dans un style “Culture Beat” euro-dance certain. Le texte ajouté est basique, mais efficace et son interprétation plutôt correct avec les moyens du bord. Le lendemain, je m’attaquais d’ailleurs à cette DV-DJ version, plus “moderne” et composée autour des sons samplés des CD Single du groupe Double Vision.

Well, i was realy astonnished that this Dance Creation will never been released in one of my albums ! If you could find the instrumental version in the album Divagation, those both sung version were forgotten in my hard drive… Musicaly the original Give me the night was great, with a Culture Beat like euro-dance mood. The added lyrics were basic but they worked with a correct interpretation for that time. The next day, i wrote thay DV-DJ remix version that sounded more modern, using some sounds sampled from the CD Single of Double Vision.

Ce jour là, j’avais pas mal de profs absents ! J’avais donc lâchement abandonné mon ami Ced à l’étude pour rentrer à la maison, composer ce petit slow pour Delphine, une fois de plus autour des instruments utilisé dans “Plus belle que ces accords” issus de la B.O. du jeu Innerworlds.
That day, i had a lot of teachers not present at school, so i left my friends Cédric Vanrutten there and went back home to write this little song to Delphine, still on the same base as “Plus belle que ces accords” started from the OST of the game Innerworlds.

Me voilà à fond Dance Music, déchainé par les résultats pouvant sortir de mon petit Pentium ! Avec une fois de plus une bonne dose d’influence de Sash! – Encore une fois, je finalisais donc un nouveau titre autour de mes histoires de cœur… dans un anglais plus que catastrophique !
Merci à Pierrick Hansen et Parmy pour quelques bons insturments et coucou à Tbob et Doudou.

I was 100% euro-dance music connected, motivated by the result of the last productions i’ve made with my small Pentium 120. So once again, influenced by Sash!, i wrote a new song couting my teenage love story in a pooring english.
