mixed by Mc Piet (Martin) Scream Tracker III – 80386 DX 40 – MOD
L’année 1995 touchait clairement à sa fin, et dans un dernière élan je mettais à la tâche, un peu le réveillon familliale à réaliser un mégamix de mes 2 CDs dernièrement acheté. C’est le Turn up The Bass 22 qui passa le premier dans Fast Tracker II afin de récupérer les premiers samples. Pensez donc, ce n’était pas aussi simple que maintenant, il n’y avait pas de fichier MP3, et je ne pouvais pas non plus importer un morceau complet en .WAV sur mon ordinateur. Mon disque dur de l’époque était un 40mo ce qui n’était déjà pas mal pour l’époque.

Bref, il me fallait repéré sur ma chaine Hi-Fi Sanyo l’endroit que je voulais sampler, reculer un peu en arrière, brancher alors un cable dans la sortie casque de ma chaine HiFi vers l’entre audio de la carte son, et enregistrer à l’aveugle quelques secondes… Puis recouper dans Fast Tracker II ce que je voulais garder.
Dans ce megamix j’utilisais donc des sons de : Lil’ Louis – Club lonely, P. Fernandez – Kickin the beat, Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam – Let beat hit them, Ultra Nate – A deeper love, Jam & Spoon – Stella – Precious X Project – Dukkha.
Year 1995 was close to be finished and so, i try to realised 2 megamix before the familly dinner. I choose the vol. 22 of my both Turn up up the Bass first. I should explain you how i worked at that time to prepare the sounds of my megamix on Fast Tracker II.
At that time, we don’t have MP3 files, nor the possibility to import the song in a .WAV file on my computer, as my hard drive only have 40mo, that was not so bad for that time.
So i should prepare the timing of the sample i need to record from my Sanyo CD player and then go few secondes reward. Then plug a cable on the headphone output and then also in the audio input of my sound card. Then i should blindly record few seconds and then crop it with Fast Tracker II.
In this mix i use sounds from Lil’ Louis, P. Fernandez, Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam, Ultra Nate, Jam & Spoon and Precious X Project.

Waxattack est un groupe techno de l’époque 1992, qui proposait des morceaux aux sonorités très chouette ! Leurs auteurs Ferry Ridderhof & Peter Garnefski étaient également connus pour d’autres formations techno de l’époque, au style fort différent tel que Hocus Pocus, Vicious Delicious ou X-Orgasmic… Bref, aillant retrouver le morceau Waxattack – Yesss ! sur mon CD Turn up the Bass vol. 22, je m’étais mis à la tâche de tenter un petit quelques choses sur mon Scream Tracker, en y ajoutant quelques sons de 2 Unlimited – The Magic Friend.
Waxattack is techno formation from 1992 that have released some track with great sounds. The authors Ferry Ridderhof & Peter Garnefski also have been known with other techno formations with a different style as Hocus Pocus, Vicious Delicious or X-Orgasmic… So Welle, i found the track Waxattack – Yesss! on my CD Turn up the Bass vol. 22 and i had decided to do something with it on Scream Tracker and adding some sounds of 2 Unlimited – Magic Friend.

La fin de l’année 1995 approche, et avant d’en finir, j’allais essayé de rentabiliser au maximum mes 2 derniers achats : les compilation Turn up the Bass 21 et 22, trouvée pour l’équivalent de 2,5€ à l’époque. Dans un premier c’est un remix Sound Tracker de N.U.K.E. – Nana sur lequel j’allais me plonger, aillant pu trouver pas mal de sons seuls pour tenter la reproduction.
Il est intéressant de se pencher sur ce morceau, car le mystère de l’oeuf et de la poule reste entier. Qui fut le premier ?? N.U.K.E. – Nana, groupe allemand, ou le titre L.A. Style – I’m raving ‘Oh si Nen’… groupe néérlandais ?? C’est que les deux morceaux se ressemblent un peu !! Ma préférence à toujours été du coté de L.A. Style d’ailleurs ! Il est d’ailleurs bizarre que le titre Nana de N.U.K.E. utilise des sons techno du premier morceau de L.A. Style, James brown is dead.
End of the year 1995 was coming, and before that, i would like to use the last two CDs i’ve bought, the Turn up the Bass ARCADE compilations. I would like to remix in Sound Tracker format the song N.U.K.E. – Nana as i’ve easely isolated some samples.
It was intersting i tell you more about a mistery i don’t have solve. Who’s the first ? N.U.K.E. with Nana, german techno formation or the dutch one, L.A. Style with I’m raving ‘Oh si nene’. Those song are similar and the N.U.K.E. one use some sounds from the first HIT of L.A. Style, James borwn is dead.

Ce morceau aurait pu tout simplement s’apeller “Sweat” Remix, puisqu’à 75% c’est bien de cela qu’il s’agit, un remix version Sound Tracker, d’un des derniers Maxi CD que j’ai trouvé chez Maxitec… Ceci dit, sur disque se trouvait également 2 autres titres du groupe italien USURA (surtout connu pour Open Your Mind, en 1992). Du coup j’ai appellé mon titre Deconstruction Mix, puisque le label de tous ces morceaux était D&C – Deconstruction.
This track could just have been titled “Sweat Remix”, as it was at 75% just a remix sound tracker version of that song of USURA i bought few days ago. But, in fact, on this CD, there was some other songs of that itilian techno formation, most known in 1992 with the Hit : Open your mind. That’s why i choose Deconstruction Mix, as all those song was recorded under the Label D&C – Deconstruction.

Aaah les vacances de Noël, après avoir fait le plein d’enveloppes, je pouvais filer chez Maxitec dépenser mes petits sous en vieux CDs vendu pour une bouchée de pain, pour ensuite me faire plein de nouveaux samples… voir un petit remix.
Le cas de ce morceau, plus que probablement pas très connu, fut rapidement fait. Quasi tous les samples pouvaient sur le Maxi Single, être isolés, afin de récupérer voix, instrument, percussion, et ainsi me refaire mon remix au format Sound Tracker, l’objectif donc était d’être assez proche de la version CD.
Il s’agit donc d’un remix de G.N.D. – War, G.N.D. pour Georges & Digitek (dieu que c’est original n’est pas !!), Si vous ne connaissez pas, moi j’avais découvert ce groupe en 1992 avec le tire For Fun, et son répétitif cris de “singe” : Ouhouhou hou hou hoouuuu !
Aaah christmas holydays, after receiving gifts, i could quickly go to Maxitec to use my money on old CDs and then found new samples and may be the possibility to create some remixes.
This song was probably not known (i don’t find stuff about it on the web), but on the Maxi CD i have been able to isolated all instruments and vocals to recreate it in Sound Tracker format.
It’s a remix of the song G.N.D. – War, G.N.D. means Georges & Digitek (not so original !), but if you don’t ever heard it, may be do you know an older techno song of this formation, in 1992, called : For Fun, with some monkey scream “Ouhouhouh hou houh hou houuuuh !

A l’origine, il s’agissait de faire un morceau techno sur base de quelques samples issus d’un autres modules, mais en réalité je me suis rendu compte plus tard, que ces samples et le loop de mélodie venait d’un morceau de house électro des années 80 du groupe M.A.R.R.S.
I just would like to remix a new techno songs with samples found… But later i discover it was still a mix of an old electro house song from the eighties written by M.A.R.R.S.

Et donc… du coup, à petit morceau, beaucoup de morceaux, je pouvais donc faire 2 voir 3 modules sur la journée, entre quelques heures d’études des cours de Flamand… pardon de Néérlandais. Ici, j’avais créer un morceau techno autour du son principale de morceau de Mo-Do – Eins Twei, Polizei.
Tiens d’ailleurs je me suis toujours demandé si le nom de ce groupe Mo-Do pouvait être lié au Modules ou au format MOD… partons en quête…

And then, small tracks, but many tracks, i often had time to write two or three new modules, as here between few hours of learning dutch. I had written a techno track around the principal instrument of the Mo-Do – Eins Twei Polizei. So i’m just wondering if the name Mo-Do have a link to the MOD format ??

Bon, il faut bien l’avouer, cette année là, j’avais été vraiment très prolifique durant mes examens, mais ceci dit, le résultat était loin d’être à la hauteur,… Je composais plus pour décompresser que pour vraiment créer quelques choses d’intéressant… Ici, avec un titre un peu tordu… vous avez déjà vu de l’acide mouelleux vous ? je mélangeais enfait simplement des sons de d’Acid House avec une basse de Mellow Organ…
So, i should admit that as if during those 1995 examination, i had written many sound-track, there were just average ! I just created music to forget i must learn my curses… So here i just mix Acid House samples with a mellow organ bass.

Non, il ne s’agit pas d’un remix du premier hit de 2 Unlimited, mais bien d’un simple morceau de Techno/Rave un peu similaire à cette époque.

Bon je peux vous dire qu’à l’époque, je n’avais toujours pas digéré mon examen de physique avec Mme Lothe ! Du coup, j’avais encore envie de triturer les sons un peu Hip Hop trouvé sur les CDs de PC Fun pour me faire un morceau Techno un peu spécial.
So i still don’t have accepted how happens my phyisics examination, so i still would like to create music with the new Hip Hop samples found in the PC Fun CDs to write techno song !
