Au milieu des quelques modules à tendance plutôt Rock de mon ami Parmesan (Laurent Mazzapicchi), se trouvait un morceau un peu Dance : Outher Space, à la mélodie simple et efficace… Quelques fois, nous le jouions en repét avec le groupe Virtual Music,… et je m’étais alors mis dans la tête dans refaire un petit remix Scream Tracker III, un soir d’hiver.
In the module’s directory of my friend Parmesan (Laurent Mazzapicchi) close to the rock sound-track, we had written a dance song called : Outher Space, with a simple but excellent melody. Sometime our pop band Virtual Music played it durint our repetition… then i had decided to rewrite a remix on my scream tracker…

I Like to move it, move it,… c’est vrai, maintenant tout le monde associé cela au film Madagascar, mais pour moi, un peu plus ancien, c’est surtout un mega tube Dance/Hip Hop de 1994 du groupe Reel 2 Real. Avec des sons très caractéristiques et une mélodie qui reste en tête, il n’est pas étonnant que beaucoup de Tracker se soit tenté à le reproduire sur leur logiciel préféré.
Ce fut d’ailleurs le cas de mon ami Parmesan (Laurent Mazzapicchi) qui avait alors enregistré son ami Mirko Rizzari au téléphone, entrain de chanter le morceau !!
De mon coté, moi aussi, je me suis par la suite lancé dans mon petit remix de ce classique de l’époque !
I like to move it, move it… so yes, it was now associated to the movie Madagascar, but for me, may be older than you, it’s especialy a mega Dance/Hiphop hit from 1994 from the formation Reel 2 Real. With that specific melodies and sounds, it was not so astonished that many soundtracker had tryed to rewrite it with their favorite musical tool.
That’s what my friend Parmesan have done in 1995, recording his friend Mikro through phone,… singing the song. Then later, i also would like to remix it !

Je me souviens, un soir de 1992, je tombe en regardant MTV sur le clip vidéo de U96 – Das Boot… J’étais fou de ce morceau et de son “1, 2, 3 Techno”. C’était alors la fièvre de la Techno et rien qu’à l’entendre depuis un digitaliser, … cela me rendait dingue. Mon voisin Alain m’avait trouvé le CD Maxi chez son cousin, et j’écoutais donc la K7 en boucle. Plus tard Pierrick m’appris à le jouer au synthé, et je fus étonné de la version module réalisée par Romu.
En 1996, Parmy (Laurent Mazzapicchi), me trouva une version tout à fait similaire à celle que j’avais déjà découverte sur Amiga, et l’idée me vint d’approfondir le sujet, nottament à redigitalisant depuis ma K7, les parties vocales manquantes ! Bref, qui a fait quoi ?? Je finis par me le demander… visiblement Romu ne fut vraiment pas le seul à avoir l’idée de retravailler Das Boot en Sound Tracker… et moi j’ai au moins fignolé celui-ci pour m’approcher pour l’époque du résultat le plus proche.
U96 ne me fit pas par la suite autant rêver, même si des titres tel que Love sees no colour ou Club Bizarre sont tout de même bien sympa !
I remember, an 1992’s night, i was watching MTV and then discovered the movie-clip of U96 – Das boot. I was crazy of that song and the “1,2,3 Techno”. It was techno fever and just hearing that with digitalised voiced drive me mad ! My neightboor Alain find me the Maxi CD from his cousin, and then, i listened to my K7 tape again and again. Later, Pierrick learned me how to play it, and then Romuald show me his sound-tracker amiga version in 1994.
In 1996, Parmy find me a similar mod version and then i would like to work around it especially using new sounds and vocals from my K7 tape. Well, finally, i don’t know who had done what. Sure Romu don’t was the only one to have the idea of rewriting Das Boot in Amiga Sound Tracker format and I had probably have done the most closer version for that time….

Aaah, 2 Brothers on the 4th Floor, un excellent groupe Dance découvert en 1994 avec nottament le morceau “Dreams” que j’ai eu très vite envie de savoir jouer au synthé, … avec des accord bien classique Am F C G… que l’on ré-utilise souvent dans le genre… Bref, je me suis donc fait, mon petit remix “module”… .Par contre, c’est la première fois que je vois le Clip Vidéo, avec la Doloreal 🙂
Aaaah, the 2 Brothers on the 4th Floor, what excellent euro-dance formation i discovered in 1994 with the song “Dreams”, that i had quickly learn to play on my synthesizer… with the classic chord Am F C G often re-used in Dance creations. So i had to write my personnal mod remix.
It’s the first time i see the movie clip, funny with GMC Doloreal.

Avec les samples récupérés dernièrement de mes compilations Turn up the Bass, j’ai eu envie d’en faire un peu plus, en partant de sons de Chestnut – Pot of Gold, et Sequencial Big Boom, je me suis donc fait un morceau techno hardcore, également du nom de Pot of Gold… un petit cadeau pour DJ Dub (Christophe Deblire) et Caro (Caroline Lepaily)
With the samples from the Turn up the Bass, i would like to create more, so i re-used sounds from Chestnut – Pot of Gold et Sequencial – Big Boom… in a techno hardcore songs also called “Pot of Gold”.

Keen Commander 4 : Goodbye Galaxy – PC (ID Software, 1991)
Commander Keen,… en 1996, impossible que personne ne s’en souviennent.. et même maintenant ! Pour moi, Keen Commander, c’est LE HIT de ID Software, bien plus amusant que Doom et la 7° compagnie ! J’avais découvert les premiers épisodes sur PC via Julien Stassart et Alain Gillon, et je me suis acheté le 4° et meilleur épisode : Goodbye Galaxy, avec mon Joypad Gravis… A l’époque, en 1992, c’était un jeu extraordinaire, probablement le meilleur jeu de plate-forme sur PC MS-DOS…. En 1996, j’y jouais toujours, actuellement il m’arrive de le ressortir, et franchement je rève d’une fidèle adaptation sur le Store PS3.
Ici, je me suis repris quelques thèmes des musiques originales de Bobby Prince, dans un style un amiga funky, sur base du module Mr Keel Theme.
Xeen Commander – PC Game Maker (PPP Team Software, 1996)
Aufait, en 1996, notre PPP Team Software avait un jeu sous Game Make ou Xeen, le fils de Keen devait reparcourir la Galaxy. 256 couleurs et musique adlib… D’ailleurs, il était en libre de distrubition à la Maison des Loisirs de Seraing.
Commander Keen, in 1996, it was impossible that no one remember it… also now ! For me, it was THE HIT of ID Software, realy more fun that Doom. I discovered the first episodes on PC with Julien Stassart and Alain Gillon, then i’ve bought the 4th and best one called : Goodbye Galaxy with my Gravis Joypad. In 1992, it was probably the best games in that category on PC MS-DOS, still in 1996 i often played it, and now, i sometime re-install it… and hardly waitin’ an adaptation on the PS3 store.
I re-arranged there some musical theme from Bobby Prince in a funky amiga style around the Mr Keel Theme samples.
So, do you known that in 1996, our PPP Team Software realised a Game Maker version of Xeen Commander, who’s son of Billy, the hero of Keen Commander.

Un peu avant la fin des vacances, mon voisin temporaire Christophe Deblire était venu me rendre visite avec, lui aussi, ses nouveaux CDs reçus pour les fêtes ! Nous avons donc commencé par nous occuper du Maxi Single de Scooter – Move your ass, avec quelques samples d’un autre CD de Moby.
Few days before we were back to school, my temporary neightboor, Christope Deblire came at home with his brand new CDs. So we began to work with the Maxi Single of Scooter – Move your Ass and some samples from an other CD of Moby.

Waxattack est un groupe techno de l’époque 1992, qui proposait des morceaux aux sonorités très chouette ! Leurs auteurs Ferry Ridderhof & Peter Garnefski étaient également connus pour d’autres formations techno de l’époque, au style fort différent tel que Hocus Pocus, Vicious Delicious ou X-Orgasmic… Bref, aillant retrouver le morceau Waxattack – Yesss ! sur mon CD Turn up the Bass vol. 22, je m’étais mis à la tâche de tenter un petit quelques choses sur mon Scream Tracker, en y ajoutant quelques sons de 2 Unlimited – The Magic Friend.
Waxattack is techno formation from 1992 that have released some track with great sounds. The authors Ferry Ridderhof & Peter Garnefski also have been known with other techno formations with a different style as Hocus Pocus, Vicious Delicious or X-Orgasmic… So Welle, i found the track Waxattack – Yesss! on my CD Turn up the Bass vol. 22 and i had decided to do something with it on Scream Tracker and adding some sounds of 2 Unlimited – Magic Friend.

La fin de l’année 1995 approche, et avant d’en finir, j’allais essayé de rentabiliser au maximum mes 2 derniers achats : les compilation Turn up the Bass 21 et 22, trouvée pour l’équivalent de 2,5€ à l’époque. Dans un premier c’est un remix Sound Tracker de N.U.K.E. – Nana sur lequel j’allais me plonger, aillant pu trouver pas mal de sons seuls pour tenter la reproduction.
Il est intéressant de se pencher sur ce morceau, car le mystère de l’oeuf et de la poule reste entier. Qui fut le premier ?? N.U.K.E. – Nana, groupe allemand, ou le titre L.A. Style – I’m raving ‘Oh si Nen’… groupe néérlandais ?? C’est que les deux morceaux se ressemblent un peu !! Ma préférence à toujours été du coté de L.A. Style d’ailleurs ! Il est d’ailleurs bizarre que le titre Nana de N.U.K.E. utilise des sons techno du premier morceau de L.A. Style, James brown is dead.
End of the year 1995 was coming, and before that, i would like to use the last two CDs i’ve bought, the Turn up the Bass ARCADE compilations. I would like to remix in Sound Tracker format the song N.U.K.E. – Nana as i’ve easely isolated some samples.
It was intersting i tell you more about a mistery i don’t have solve. Who’s the first ? N.U.K.E. with Nana, german techno formation or the dutch one, L.A. Style with I’m raving ‘Oh si nene’. Those song are similar and the N.U.K.E. one use some sounds from the first HIT of L.A. Style, James borwn is dead.

Ce morceau aurait pu tout simplement s’apeller “Sweat” Remix, puisqu’à 75% c’est bien de cela qu’il s’agit, un remix version Sound Tracker, d’un des derniers Maxi CD que j’ai trouvé chez Maxitec… Ceci dit, sur disque se trouvait également 2 autres titres du groupe italien USURA (surtout connu pour Open Your Mind, en 1992). Du coup j’ai appellé mon titre Deconstruction Mix, puisque le label de tous ces morceaux était D&C – Deconstruction.
This track could just have been titled “Sweat Remix”, as it was at 75% just a remix sound tracker version of that song of USURA i bought few days ago. But, in fact, on this CD, there was some other songs of that itilian techno formation, most known in 1992 with the Hit : Open your mind. That’s why i choose Deconstruction Mix, as all those song was recorded under the Label D&C – Deconstruction.
