La fin de l’année 1997 approche, et j’en profite alors pour finaliser la plupart des titres en standby pour mon futur album dont le titre n’est alors pas encore choisi. La version instrumentale de ce titre m’inspirait beaucoup, j’aimais beaucoup la mélodie que je lui avais trouvée et l’organ bass à la sauce Robin S. était vraiment chouette ! Il ne lui manquait plus qu’un bon texte et du chant !
Coté texte, j’avais bien sur toujours en tête Delphine, et bien que nous ne pouvions pas nous voir encore avant un bon moment, je gardais en espoir que nous verrions lors d’un petit séjour à Sun Park avec la famille Boigelot ! Petit à petit, les paroles prennaient forme, plus qu’à les mettre en musique… et là un titre allait vraiment m’influencer : Shadows of the Night de DJ Bobo. Bien sur dans ce titre, c’est essentiellement la partie orchestrale mélangée à ce titre Euro-Dance qui me plait… mais également le thème musicale, le chant… J’avais du coup envie d’apporter à mon titre ce sentiment d’une chorale qui chante sur de la Dance… L’occasion rêvée d’utiliser mon tout nouveau Tascam Porta Studio-2 offert par ma Mamy des Villes pour progresser dans mes études à l’IAD !
Si au cours, nous pouvions bâver sur les Fostex à pistes audio numériques, avec ce petite appareil, je pouvais transformer une simple K7 audio en un support me permettant d’enregistrer en 4 pistes. Une piste pour la bande son en mono, puis trois autres pour enregistrer les voix. Cela peut vous paraître assez basique, mais je peux vous dire qu’à l’époque, fin 1997, je me retrouvais vraiment dans un cran bien supérieur musicalement, et pouvait envisager plein de chouettes nouveaux projets… Seul l’exécrable qualité de mon micro Phillips à 200Fb posait problème…. Une fois chacune des pistes enregistrée, je pouvais ensuite les digitalisée une par une pour être intégrée dans Impulse Tracker… Une par une ?? Oui bien sur, cela me permettant depuis mon logiciel de piloter chacune d’elle séparément, tout en aillant pu les enregistrer en live pendant que j’écoutais le résultat !

End of the year 1997 approaching and i worked hard to finish some standby tracks for my forcoming and untitled album. The instrumental version of this song realy inspirated me. I realy liked the melody and the Organ Bass sounding like Robin S. It needed again a great lyrics and vocals ! I still had in mind Delphine as if we was not able to see us, but realy hoped we’ll meet us at a forcoming Sun Park rendez-vous with the Boigelot familly. Step by step i’ll find the text i want to sing, and you should know i found a lot inspiration in the EuroDance song of DJ Bobo : Shadows of the night. Sure there it was a mix of orchestral instrument and Euro Dance… and i would like to mix Dance with a choral vocalisation. So it’s realy the best moment to train my brand new Tascam Porta Studio-2 !
At the IAD i had the opportunity to use numeric audio table from Fostex, but here for a cheaper price i would be able to transform a simple Audio Tape to a 4 track recording system ! On track for the music and three for vocals. It seems now a basic solution, but for the end of 1997 it was a realy step forward for me ! I just lost some quality with this stupid Phillips microphone…
Well when each tracks were recorded, i digitalised it to re-included it in Impulse Tracker.
Bien des années plus tard, le futur grand Spaneo me fit l’honneur de quelques Bootleg déjà prometteur tel que Madonna – Music VS Cyborg Jeff – Let me see the sky !

Cette année là, les parents de mon ami Tbob (Valentin) m’avait très gentiment invité avec eux en Weekend à Sun Park, à Mol… C’était la première fois que je partais dans ce genre de parc, et avec mes amis Val & Simon, on n’allait pas s’ennuyer… Et puis j’allais fêter mes 19 ans ce weekend là !
Grandes piscines, tobogans,… et filles ! Car sur place Valentin retrouvait la famille Jacqmard dont leur fille Delphine et sa copine Céline… Le weekend allait donc être vraiment sympa, même si, un Cyborg Jeff sans ses lunettes ne voit pas à moins de 20cm…
J’avais vraiment trouvé Delphine très très chouette, et de retour à la maison… l’inspiration me venait déjà pour Trip to Aywaille City,… puisqu’elle habitait dans ce coin là ! … D’ailleurs, je n’ai jamais au fond visité cette petite ville du début des Ardennes belges.
Musicalement, on se retrouve avec une fois de plus un titre inspiré de B.B.E. comme beaucoup d’autres à cet époque, mais également inspiré de DJ MD – Rio, un single techno que mon frère m’avait offert pour mon anniversaire ! Une fois de plus le rendu stéréo est un peu trop séparé, mais à l’époque, je travaillais toujours en mono pour économiser les ressources de mon Pentium.
Tiens, vous aurez remarqué que ce morceau n’est pas signé de Cyborg Jeff, mais bien de DJ T-Cake (T-Cake pour Tronche de Cake)… Enfait, j’avais une bonne crève cette semaine là, assez fièvreux, et vraiment mauvaise mine… ce qui m’avait inspiré ce nouveau pseudo de transition.
That year, the parents of my friend Valentin invited me to spend days on Sun Park ! That was the first time i went on such weekend and with my friends Valentin and Simon, it will be realy fun, and especially cause i turn to 19 that day.
Swimming pools, fun, girls… yes, there, Valentin’s familly find back their friends and their daughter Delphine and her friend Céline. The weekend would be realy kwel, as if a Cyborg Jeff without his glasses won’t see right.
I found Delphine realy kwel and cute, so back at home i had inspiration on a song called Trip to Aywaille city cause she lived there…
Musicaly it’s a trance song not so far from B.B.E. as other stuff i made at that period, but also it get inspiration from the single track DJ MD – Rio that my brother gift me for my birthday. Once again stereo rending was may to separated, but at that time, i still worked in mono.
So may you’ve mentionned that i have signed this song not Cyborg Jeff but DJ-T-Cake. that means “Tronche de Cake”, a belgian expression that say : i was ill and don’t fit well !
