A l’époque j’avais clairement la fièvre du sampling. Et pour cause, Valyum (Romuald Dispa), m’avait bien fait comprendre qu’être un lammer, c’est mal ! Un lammer ? un petit novice en informatique, dans mon cas en sound-tracking, qui s’approprie à son nom le travail d’autrui. Et déjà reprendre les samples d’un autre tracker… ce n’est pas très bien. Du coup, dans la mesure du possible, j’essayais de faire moi même mes propres samples. Ici j’avais donc repris un veille K7 de mix réalisée à l’époque où je m’appellais Mee-Kanik pour récupérer quelques sons hors de titres de Benny B, BB Jerome & the Bang Gang, Black Box et The Underground… le tout dans un megamix,… plutot mauvais.
At that time, i often used time to do sampling. That’s why Valyum let me understand that being a lammer is a realy bad thing ! A lammer ? It means a newbie in computer world that said “it’s mine”, in case it’s not realy his work… And i the soundtracker’s world, using another musicians sample could be a problem. So i took back an old audio tape from mixes i made long time ago with my friend DJ Re-E (Vivien Vanoirbeek) in the time we called me Mee Kanik. There i sampled sounds from Benny B, BB Jerome & the Bang Gang, Black Box, The underground… in a avergage digital megamix.

Cela faisait un petit moment que mon ami Vivien ‘V-Drums’ Vanoirbeek et moi n’avions plus réalisé ensemble un petit module. L’idée était ici de se donner une idée des nouveaux pattern du cours de batterie de Vivien. Nous les avons donc ensemble ré-ércits sous Fast Tracker…. Puis de retour à la maison, je me suis dit que cela serait sympa de leur adjoindre un petit thème de bass, avec la jolie sélection de samples tirée de Mr Keel Theme.

There’s a long time ago that my friend Vivien and I had not realised booth new soundtrack. The idea was here to hear how sounds the new drum pattern of Vivien’s lessons, so we have rewrote it on Fast Tracker…. Then, back at home, i tought it was fun to add bass theme on it, using samples from Mr Keel Theme.

Et voici le retour de Cyborg Jeff après quelques jours de disparition dans un morceau de Techno un peu trop loufoque…. Ceci dit, il y a des morceaux aussi bête qui marche parfois.
Tiens la saison de F1 venait de recommencer, et moi en grand fan, je m’étais empressé d’insérer les résultat de ce premier GP d’Australie à Melbourne dans les commentaires de mon modules… D’autant que je suivais alors un jeu de “Gestion” dans un magasine de F1 Belge… j’avais bien sur tout misé sur Jos Verstappen !

track 23, Gimme an Amiga (1996-2012)
Durant l’année 96, je m’occupais d’un bande de jeune ado au MEJ (mouvement catholique pour les jeunes), dont mon petit cousin Pierre Versali et l’un de mes petits voisins Jean-Denis Magis dit JedD. Je m’étais assez bien lié d’amitié avec eux deux, tout spécialement JedD qui s’intéressait assez bien à la création au formation Sound Tracking.
JedD était fan de musique métal, et j’avais donc décidé de lui réaliser un morceau dans le genre, avec une petite touche d’ambiance de cyber manga nippon… Bref de quoi lui donner des idées pour sa découverte de Scream Tracker… et de sa nouvelle guitare.
Petite dédicace de l’époque donc à Jean-Denis JedD Magis, Delphine Magis, Pierre Versali et Thomas Hoyoux.
During year 96, i had in charge some teenager from a catholical movement called MEJ. There were my cousin Pierre Versali and one of my neighboor Jean-Denis Magis. I was friend with us, especially JedD who also want to write some soundtracker module.
He liked metal music and so, i had decided to write him a song in this mood mixing with cyber manga ambient. Well to give him ideas for his forcoming production on Scream Tracker and his brand new guitare.

Nouveau titre à la sauce Amiga, mettant en musique la guerre des indiens Apache. Mwouais, bon chacun sa vision des choses,… ce sont surtout les “Aaahaaa” qui m’ont inspirés cela. Depuis quelques temps, le nom du Label sous lequel je crée mes musiques à changer. Il ne s’agit plus de S.A.B. Production mais bien Alien’s from Seraing, division de Creative Sound Studio bien entendu. En réalité, durant quelques mois, c’est également sous ce nom que notre groupe de musique, alors formé de Vivien Vanoirbeek, Laurent ‘Parmy’ Mazzapicchi, Pype et moi même s’était nommé,… inspiré d’un des morceaux de Laurent.
New title in the Amiga mood, inspirated from the Apache’s war… in fact it was especially the “Ahaa” that let me think that… Since some days, i have changed the Label name from S.A.B. Production to Alien’s from Seraing, still a division of Creative Sound Studio. In fact, it was also the temporary name of the band where i played with Vivien, Parmy and Pype… a band’s name inspirated from one of the Parmy’s soundtrack.

Project X (Team 17) sur Amiga
De tous les jeux vu sur l’Amiga 500 de mon ami Bruno Devalkeneer, c’est la musique du jeu Project X, shoot’m up de Team 17 composée par Allister Brimble qui m’a le plus impressionnée. A l’époque, j’étais même persuadé que c’était le groupe Technotronic qui en avait réalisé la bande son, tant la ressemblance et la qualité était proche !
Bref, le jour où j’ai pu mettre la main sur le module soundtracker sur mon PC, j’ai rapidement voulu moi aussi tenté d’en faire quelque chose ! … au final avec tout de moins de panache.
Bien des années plus tard, il me faut admettre que ce fichier à du mal à être relu correctement sur les player et tracker tel que XM Play et Schism Tracker. En cause une nouvelle méthode d’animation que j’avais mise au point dans mes morceaux… pour passer le temps, en faisant du scroll text.
From all the games i’ve watched on the Amiga 500 of my friend Bruno, the music of the game Project X, a shoot’m up from Team 17 written by Allister Brimble is the one have astonished me the most. At that time i realy thniked that it was written by The electro dance band Technotronic as much as the music was so close.
Well, later i finally find the soundtrack .mod on my PC and i quickly would like to something with it. not so good, i should admit.
Now, i have spotted that this soundtrack will not be rendered correctly on XM Play or Schism Tracker. It’s due to some text scroll i’ve added in my a sond, optimized for the Scream Tracker III.

Quelques jours plus tard, j’avais pu récupérer depuis le BBS de mon oncle Barballo quelques modules afin de piocher dans leurs samples de quoi faire une vraie démo à ma cousine Claire. Un petit remix d’une de ses partitions de solfège d’un gospel anglais “Oh when the saint goes machin in.”
So, few days later, i finally able to pick up samples out of some soundtrack found trough my uncle’s BBS. I was able to show my cousin how works Scream Tracker III, remixing her musical partition of the english gospel “Oh when the saint goes marchin in”.

Tiens, je pense que beaucoup ont déjà entendu et vu sur le web un soundtrack uniquement basé sur les sons de Windows XP et 98… Ouaaais, c’est vrai, c’est pas mal fait, mais bon, j’avais déjà joué à cela en … 1996, avec l’unique son utilisable de Windows 95. Le “Diiing”.
C’était les vacances de carnaval, et j’étais donc pour la semaine chez mon oncle Barballo, afin de participer au stage de la Troupe de l’Ilot avec mes cousines Laure et Claire. J’avais bien sur embarqué avec moi, une disquette de mon Scream Tracker, histoire, à l’occasion de faire un peu tracker en soirée.
Hmmm, c’était sans compter, que j’avais oublié de prendre des fichiers sons avec moi,… il me fallait donc trouver une solution pour montrer à ma cousine comment ca marche, me vient alors l’idée d’utilisée les sons au format WAV de son système d’exploitation.
Well, i think that many of you have already heard and watch to the modplug tracker song only using sounds from Windows 98 and Windows XP. Sure, it well done, but I hade allready done similar song in 1996, … only using the “Diiing” of Windows 95.
It was carnival holidays and i was for a week at my uncle Barballo home as i went each days with my cousins to the theatre La Troupe de l’Ilot. But i had taken my floppy disk of Scream Tracker III… That day, i decided to show to my cousin Claire how works Scream Tracker… but i had forgotten to bring some samples !!! So i though using the WAV files of his brand new operating system !

J’avais donc entamé au début de l’année 1996 une série de module au tour des instruments de mon Yamaha PSR 210. Celui-ci en est au fond bien éloigné, hormis l’utilisation de son Piano, on y retrouve également pas mal de samples tirés du CD La Rocca 2 et même du morceau techno de Roterdam Termination Source – Poing, le tout dans un morceau mi Samba, mi Techno.
Petite dédicace à Caro (Caroline Lepaily), Tchet, Ludo (Ludovic Remacle), Parmy (Laurent Mazzapicchi), Raf (Raphaël Lazzari), Pascal Deiting, Pierrick Hansen, Naguy (Christophe Wagner), V-Drums (Vivien Vanoirbeek).
I had started in the start of 1996 some soundtrack using instruments from my Yamaha PSR 210. This one finaly not so close to that project as i just used the piano with some sounds from the La Rocca 2 CDs and also the “boing” sounds of the techno song : Roterdam Termination Source – Poing in a mix of Samba and techno music.

Nouveau morceau réalisé par le meilleur Droïd de la galaxy : (YB0RG Jeff, piloté par votre soundtracker préféré : Mc Piet. J’ai du composer ce morceau de House music pour pouvoir atterir sur la 5ème planète de ce système solaire : Enigma-J. Notre Droïd Cyborg Jeff a donc trouvé une solution pour sauver la planète Terre,… La House !
… Le plus drôle est que tous ces morceaux que j’assimile à de la House Music n’ont pas grand chose à voir avec ce genre de musique… Enigna-J est un hommage au tableau le plus amusant de la trilogie du jeu Epic Pinball développé par Epic Mega Games.
A new track realised by the best Droïd of the Galaxy : Cyborg Jeff driven by your favorite sound tracker : Mc Piet. I had to write this House music to be able to land on the 5th planet of that solar system called : Enigma-J. Our Droïd Cyborg Jeff had solve the problem to save planet Eart : House Music.
… What’s fun, is all that song i linked to House Music were not House music… Enigma-J is an hommage to the funniest table of Epic Pinball Trilogy (from Epic Mega Games) : Enigma.
