Planer n'est pas jouer S.E.Aaah, enfin une journée sans examen… de quoi faire le break et me lancer dans la création d’un nouveau petit morceau de Dream Air music. Lorsque je trouvais un bon titre, c’est bien souvent que j’avais appris de nouveau mots de vocabulaire anglais… Jounrey ou Tremendously mind…. pour le reste, j’étais vraiment un crabe en la matière à l’époque… Et je n’avais pas non plus de mot tendre envers la préfète Mme Allo…. Au final encore un mélange entre son techno, mélodie de piano, un string tiré de mon Yamaha PSR210 et un orgue un peu “puant” de Black Box.

Aah, ca sentait la fin des examens tout proche quand même, avec une petite pensée pour Naguy (Christophe Wagner) qui terminait lui sa rétho et que j’espèrais alors revoir une fois rentré à “Interim”… Bon j’étais pas très bien documenté à l’époque… car c’était à l’INPRES qu’il rentrait, mais j’avais mal retenu le nom de cette école d’informatique… où je ne suis au final pas allé…. et un dernier coucou à Vanessa Richel.

Tiens et pour la petite histoire… le fichier s’appelle : nodir.S3M, plutôt bizarre… enfait, c’est le nom de fichier par défaut de Scream Tracker III…

Finaly a day without exams. So i could have a break to write a new Dream music. When i invite new english song title, that was cause i’ve learned new vocabulary word… “Journey” or “Tremendously mind”… Anyway i was a crap in english at that time… And i also was not kwel miss Allo. So well a new techno song with piano’s melody and strings from my Yamaha PSR210… and also a slimy organ from Black Box.

Well, end of the exams was not so far… i was thinking to my friend Naguy that was finishing his 6th years and go to new school… Where i hope find him back the last year. Finally i will not learn informatic there… And a last hello to Vanessa Richel.

Il y a des fois où j’ai cruellement manqué d’originalité pour trouver un titre à mon morceau. Pourtant ce dernier n’est pas si mauvais, mélangeant des sons House et Acid…. Je m’étais également amusé à faire quelques petites animations avec Scream Tracker. Pour le “Acid”, on a donc compris… pour le Tribal c’est moins claire…. et pour le Break Time,… ben tout simplement, une petite pause pendant ma période de bloc !

Tiens s’était l’occasion également de féliciter Michael Schumacher pour sa première victoire chez Ferrari, sur le circuit détrempé de Barcelone;

Well sometime i realy didn’t have inspiration for the title of my songs. And this one was not so bad, mixing House and Acid sounds… I also took time to make funny animation in the Scream Tracker.

I also would like to announce the first winning race from Michael Schumacher with the Scuderia Ferrari on the rainy track of Barcelona.

Petite pause pendant les examen,… et réalisation de ce petit morceau de Dance à la sauce Culture Beat, tiré de la compilation Dance Hit 5.

Small pause during my study time… so i’ve realised this tiny euro-dance songs sounding like Culture Beat, with sounds coming from the CD compilation Dance Hit 5.

Il faut bien dire que je commençais à bien maîtrisé ce style mélangeant Dream music et sons Techno-Rave que j’aimais à appeler “Air Mix’. Dans ce nouveau morceau, j’ajoutais cette fois à la mélodie piano un accompagnement à la flûte de pan un peu ethnique et un joli sample “Somniak” du début des années 90, le tout en me limitant à 8 pistes. Un dernier morceau de rentrer en période de bloc, sans accès à mon PC.

Une dernière occasion de faire un petit coucou à DJ Dub (Christophe Deblire), Bruno Devalkeneer, Cédric Vanrutten, Caroline Lepaily, V-Drums (Vivien Vanoirbeek), Parmy (Laurent Mazzapicchi), Alain Rinallo, Pascal Defossa, Ludovic Remacle et bien sur Aurore et Angélique Carpene.

De quoi aussi parlé de tout ces groupes musicaux qui m’ont jusque là inspirés : Robert Miles, Pin-Occhio, 2 Unlimited, Twenty 4 Seven, T-Spoon, BB Jerome & the Bang Gang, Ice Mc, Capella, Maxx, Apotheosis, Atlantic Ocean,…

I should admit that i began to be good to write such kind of Air music, mixing Dream and Rave sounds. That time i added some ethnic pan flute to the piano’s melody and a kwel “Somniak” vocal sample from the nineties, with only 8 tracks. The last songs for some days, cause i’ll began to study for my exams.

Parmi les nombreux modules découverts depuis que je m’intéresse à cet art musical, il y avait la musique du cracktro de mon jeu “Les Aventures de Moktar”,… DIGDREAM.MOD. J’étais vraiment étonné de la pèche de ce morceau, mais bizarement mon tracker refusait d’ouvrir le fichier…. comme si celui-ci avait été crypté. Avec mon frangin Pype, nous avions finalement réussi à ressortir du fichier la structure des patterns…. Il ne me restait plus qu’à tenter de trouver des samples au plus proche du rendu original, que vous pouvez voir ici en vidéo… Ma version était définitivement moins percutante, et j’avais ajouter quelques petites touches personnelles.

Difficile de retrouver qui en est l’auteur d’origine… à la base The Dream Team aurait été lié à Hard Core et TRSi… et de mémoire, je pense avoir un jour pu la lié au soundtacker Emax.

Among the lot of great modules i found since i was intersting by that sound art. There was the song from the Cracktro of my game “Les Aventures de Moktar” : DIGDREAM.MOD

I was astonished by the power of that song, but my soundtracker was not able to open the file, as if that .MOD file was crypted. Anyway with my brother we finally found a solution to catch the pattern structure. Then i should found the best sample, close to the original you could hear in this movie-clip. My version was definitivly too cool, but i added some personnal touchs.

Hard to know who are the original compositor. I could link The Dream Team to Hard Core and TRSi, … so i think it was written by the soundtracker Emax.

Section 4100, un peu de propagante pour la ville dont je viens… en effet 4100 étant le code postal de la ville de Seraing. C’est d’ailleurs assez “marrant?” de voir maintenant que les gangs de jeune s’affrontent entre 4100 et 4400 (Flémalle)… Bref, voici un morceau où j’ai eu un peu de mal à me décider entre Techno-Rave, Dream et musique électro à la Depeche Mode des années 80.

Tiens pour la petite histoire, en cette période post-examen, je ne lésinais pas, … non pas sur mes cours de chimie, mais bien sur les jeux vidéo… Earthworm Jim, Hexen, Ultimate Soccer, Duke Nukem 3D, F1 Manager, Fifa Soccer et NHL 96…

4100 is the postal code of the city where i lived since 1983 now. That was fun cause now, we could see some “tags” about 4100 vs 4400 (Flémalle). So well, in this song, I will not able to choose the final direction of this song…. Techno Rave, Dream… Depeche Mode electron Eighties…

So well, at time i should learn for my exams… anyway i prefered playing to Earthworm Jim, Hexen Ultimate Soccer, Duke Nukem 3D, F1 Manager Fifa Soccer or NHL 96 🙂

Prolongement du 1° Digi Mix, je me relançais donc dans un nouveau projet similaire, partant du Electrosound de The Unity Mixers, C Countdown de Confetti’s, et surtout du vinyl Dance Computer 3, contenant nottament Hoho de Plaza et Vous êtes fou de Benny B… bref de quoi faire pas mal de sampling. Ne cherchez pas Digi Mix 2… il s’agit bien du 2° projet, mais intitulé Digi Mix 3, car reprennant beaucoup de son du Dance Computer 3.

Few days after the Digi Mix 1, I launched a similar project starting from the Electrosound (The Unity Mixers), C. Countdown (Confetti’s) and espcially my LP of the Dance Computer 3 including Hoho (Plaza) and Vous êtes fou (Benny B)… so many things to sample. Don’t search after a Digi Mix 2, that was the second project… called 3 cause i used many sounds from the Dance Computer 3.

Oh non, Michel Daerden est loin d’être la première personnalité à recevoir mes faveurs pour être mis en musique… A l’époque où résonnait encore dans ma tête le Qui m’a enlevé de VDB et surtout le “On se calme” de Christophe Dechavane (un morceau des Baseline Boys et du Dr Smiley), alors que je n’avais qu’un bon 14 ans, j’attendais avec impatience les petites réflexions marrantes de mon professeur de français Paul Coulonval lors de notre contrôle de conjugaison hebdomadaire !

Je suis sur que de nombreux anciens de l’Air Pur de Seraing se souviennent de ses phrases cultes : Une petite pp, délicatement féminine, bien sur !…

A l’origine, en 1992, c’est mon camarade Luigi Sacco qui avait osé prendre le risque de cacher sous son banc l’enregistreur à K7 et le micro que je lui avais pretté, discrètement emprunté à mon paternel. j’avais alors mixé d’abord mes voix sur K7 avant d’ensuite placer cela sur un morceau joué sur mon petit synthé Casio. avec un petit PC Rap interpreté de ma voix fluette de jeune adolescent.

4 ans plus tard, une visite chez Luigi étant prévue, j’avais retrouvé tout cela pour le mettre en musique de manière plus structurée avec mon scream tracker… Coté son, on retrouve quelques instruments samples de Ice Mc et The Bass Bumper… ainsi qu’une mélodie dans la lignée 2 Brothers on the 4th Floor – Dream

Il est claire que la qualité des voix n’est pas terrible, seuls ceux dont le souvenir est bien resté ancré parviendront à comprendre tout cela…

Michel Daerden is not the first personality that receive a personnal remix. At that time i still have in my mind “Qui m’a enlevé” from VDB and the “On se calme” from Baseline Boys and Dr Smiley. So i was just 14 years old and i weekly harldy waiting the funny words of my french teachers Paul Coulonval.

I’m sure that a lot of old student from the Air Put remember that culte senteces : Une petite pépé, délicatement féminine,… bien sur!

In 1992, my schoolfriend Luigi Sacco have hidden a tape recorded and a microphone that i borrowed to him during a lesson. Then i mix it on my double deck and add a synthe arrangement with my small casio. 4 years later, i should see Luigi and then i found back that song, and decided to rework it in a Dance song with my Scream Tracker… with some instruments sampled from Ice Mc and Bass Bumper… and a melody inspirated from 2 Borthers on the 4th Floor – Dream.

BB JeromeA l’époque j’avais clairement la fièvre du sampling. Et pour cause, Valyum (Romuald Dispa), m’avait bien fait comprendre qu’être un lammer, c’est mal ! Un lammer ? un petit novice en informatique, dans mon cas en sound-tracking, qui s’approprie à son nom le travail d’autrui. Et déjà reprendre les samples d’un autre tracker… ce n’est pas très bien. Du coup, dans la mesure du possible, j’essayais de faire moi même mes propres samples. Ici j’avais donc repris un veille K7 de mix réalisée à l’époque où je m’appellais Mee-Kanik pour récupérer quelques sons hors de titres de Benny B, BB Jerome & the Bang Gang, Black Box et The Underground… le tout dans un megamix,… plutot mauvais.

At that time, i often used time to do sampling. That’s why Valyum let me understand that being a lammer is a realy bad thing ! A lammer ? It means a newbie in computer world that said “it’s mine”, in case it’s not realy his work… And i the soundtracker’s world, using another musicians sample could be a problem. So i took back an old audio tape from mixes i made long time ago with my friend DJ Re-E (Vivien Vanoirbeek) in the time we called me Mee Kanik. There i sampled sounds from Benny B, BB Jerome & the Bang Gang, Black Box, The underground… in a avergage digital megamix.
